At Jigsaw, we value neurodiversity and everybody’s uniqueness, but we also are aware that the world is set up for those who are considered neurotypical.
Our mission is to provide our learners with the tools to be as independent as developmentally possible, develop meaningful relationships if they choose.
Social Stars is an 8 week program that will be meeting on Monday's from 5:00PM-6:00PM.
Each week the group will dive into various fun and engaging activities that will target friendship building, social skills, communication, executive functioning and emotional regulation.
As opposed to our other programs that may feature a broader set of target areas, these programs are focused on a single area. Our Social Skills programs are considered focused programs.
They’re designed specifically for learners who are experiencing delays in a specific skill set, such as social behavior or executive functioning.
Recommended hours may vary depending on the child’s school schedule and specific needs, but typically range from 10 to 40 hours per week. For example, one child may only need to work on self-care skills at home, after school. However, another child may require a more comprehensive program with a higher weekly hour recommendation in order to target each area of need.
Our Social Skills program is generally 6-10 hours per week. This program specifically targets social behaviors with peers in a group setting.
Our Life Skills program is designed for learners who have aged out of the early intervention program and are enrolled in a school or homeschool setting.
When your child first gets started in one of our Social Skills programs, we will conduct a caregiver interview and then choose our assessment tools and next steps based on the information you provide. We value your input about your child’s strengths and challenges. After all, you know your child best!
Our recommendations for where sessions take place is based on your child’s primary needs. For example, if your child struggles with social skills and that is what we will be targeting during our sessions, we strongly recommend that sessions take place in our clinic to allow for real-time practice with peers. However, if it’s daily living skills that your child has difficulty with, home sessions may be more appropriate so learning can take place in their natural environment.
